Spinifex Group is famous for concepting, creating, and bringing unique and unforgettable experiences to life that excite and delight spectators. The agency’s Hong Kong office is going above and beyond in a new activation for the Hong Kong Tourism Board (KHTB).
For the 2017 Hong Kong Pulse Light Show, which launched Aug. 11 and runs until Sept. 2, HKTB wants to wow attendees with an experience that artfully captures and promotes the unique culture and entertainment that only Hong Kong offers. To achieve this, Spinifex has combined digital 3D projection mapping, advanced lighting, laser, and audio effects with physical and interactive installations that take audiences on a fantastical journey through Hong Kong with a cast of local and playful characters.
The show’s family focused story brings iconic characters inspired by traditional local food favorites – like the Pineapple Bun, the Egg Tart, and Dim Sum – to life and joins them with a playful dragon and a cheeky rooster on a whirlwind tour of Hong Kong. During the show, the characters are projected on mega screens in the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Open Piazza using high-tech CGI. They also greet guests as giant inflatables and LED installations across the HKCC piazza, providing amazing photo opportunities and interactions for everyone. A 50-meter long interactive LED sculpture of the dragon is synchronized with the projection on the Clock Tower challenging audiences to wake up the dragon. Members of the public can interact with sensors that power up the game and trigger 3D-mapping animations as they wake the dragon from its slumber.
